THE MICHOU STORY

The band started in 2007 in Windsor, Ontario. We played small bars and tried to get free drinks. We also wanted to get our name out around town because that's just what a band was supposed to do. I don't think we had much direction in the beginning. We just wanted to play music and grow. After recording some music and over playing Windsor for many months, we decided we should tour. We researched clubs, cafes and venues and booked our own tour out to the east coast. Two weeks before the first shows of the tour, we realized we'd need a vehicle. We all pitched some money to buy a van for $1200. We hit the road with barely any money for gas. Surving that tour and enjoying all the excitement of constant travel, we knew the lifestyle suited us and was something we had to conquer. We took $5 a day for food, and looking back now, I can't believe we did it. I remember eating can goods every day for every meal, and even living off of peanut butter and a sack of bread.

We would always be planning our next step, thinking a year ahead of ourselves if not many years. We didn't want to come home from a tour and sit around for too long. We thrived on constant motion. Our positive attitude and work ethic got us a break when we met our manager Mike Fox, who worked for EMI Music Publishing at the time. We lucked out by getting a true music lover for a manager, not some member of the music industry completely swallowed by the economics. With him we were introduced to other great talents in the music industry. Phil Deschambault being the first. Phil produced our first studio album 'Cardona', which was a huge learning experience for us as a group. Learning so many great things about how to write better music. We were so incredibly hungry at this point in our career, and are happy to admit we still feel the same. Ever-learning and absorbing from everyone we've had the pleasure of meeting; industry and fans alike.

After this record we would continue touring but now we started getting the support of 'The Agency Group'. This meant letting go of our insane booking habits (booking over 100 shows in a year on our own). Handing over this roll was difficult at first, but it gave us much more time to focus on writing music and making music videos. In January 2010 we released a music video for our song 'Growing Younger', which we shot for less than $100. The success of this little video shocked us. We were suddenly getting played on Much Music, and XM Radio. We just kept doing what we liked to do, write music, travel and drink beer. 'Cardona' came out in July 2010 after years of work. By October we were back in the studio. We felt like we couldn't stop working. We then began writing for our next release 'Celebrate Love EP'.

In November we jumped between recording and touring with Canadian sensation 'LIGHTS'. After the tour we released a single, 'Missing Me Now', with the EP to follow in March. Over the winter months we began working on an online campaign to get our fans to vote for us to win an XM Verge Award. We worked for months reminding fans daily, begging them, offering them free shows and a free download of 'Missing Me Now'. We planned to release 'Celebrate Love EP' March 1st, 2011, the same day we were set to win or lose the Verge Awards. The night finally came around and with much suspended disbelief we had won Verge XM 'Artist of the Year'. The award and our record came on the same day. Not long after we found ourselves on the road with an act called 'USS', who took us from coast to coast from the beginning of May 2011, to the middle of June 2011. We came home with a satisfied exhaustion, which we decided to recooperate from in the studio.

This is where we are at now in our story. We are working on new songs, and hoping to find the time to give this record everything we've got. We have tried to remain sponges; absorbing every little thing we can. This new music is set to be released sometime in 2011.
